Welcome to our Pre-School

The aim of First Steps Pre-School ​is to offer a safe, secure environment where children feel included and valued, are able to develop confidence and learn well.  We endeavour to give children the opportunity to initiate and extend their own learning through play and to provide a variety of opportunities to meet each child's needs. 

In line with British values, we encourage free flow, allowing children to move from one area to another and helping them to grow in independence through the opportunity to choose where and what they play with.  We also carry out a rolling snack where the children can decide when they come up for snack and independently choose from a healthy varied snack of what they would like.  We see each meal and snack time as a wonderful time to learn and be social.

Everything we do, from continuously developing our curriculum, to the intent behind our planning is based on each individual child's needs and interests.  This is all underpinned by the Early Year's Foundations stage.  We understand that every child learns differently and that 'one size does not fit all'.

We are the oldest charity based pre-school in the Princes Risborough area and it is our aim to continue to make our pre-school genuinely accessible to children and families from all sections of the local community, without discrimination of their religious beliefs, culture, ethnic origin, gender, social class, family status, disability or special need.

• We have one of the largest outdoor play areas in Bucks which is used by the children every day, whatever the weather
• We take children from 2 years of age, including funded 2 year olds
• We are Ofsted rated Good
• We occupy a large, bright, airy room with plenty of space to explore
• We offer a lunch club facility for our children every day
• We offer a regular 'mini beast' activity to all children
• We are open every day (Mon-Fri)
